Content Marketing, Social Media Management and Authorship
Let’s face it, SEO can be a love hate relationship and 2012 has proven to been no exception, its actually been ramped up with a variety of wild animals trying to eat your lunch…
There are only 2 constants – search will continue to evolve and so will UAW for the maximum benefit of its members!
We have been asked:
With the release of Pandas and Penguins, is this the end of Content Marketing?
Nah, it’s only the beginning, in fact we are pumped about all the recent changes! Team UAW is working tirelessly so that UAW members are consistently getting the highest value from membership as you can see from the recent enhancements within UAW.
These improvements are specifically designed to enhance our member’s abilities to effectively and efficiently capitalize on shifts in search. One such example would be the weighting adjustment in algorithms that are targeted at the “Site Freshness Ranking” therefore UAW introduced integrated writing teams for members:
- Order original content (single article versions) directly through your control panel inside UAW – for your exclusive use as you see fit.
- UAW Sets are now available to you from our team of professional writers, delivered directly to your UAW account, thereby decreasing your time spent on the “task” of content creation.
We continue to stress the importance of unique, relevant content for both readers and search engines. If people are writing thin or trying to use spammy or duplicate content, it won’t make it through our review process – it will be rejected. UAW uses both system programming and human reviews to ensure quality. Yes it is might be more difficult for some members to create content with our improved submission guidelines however the results are much better, Google loves the content and so does the community = higher rankings and more traffic for your websites!
We are publishers; authors of relevant, unique, niche targeted content that enjoy lifts in our rankings, a reward for our efforts for producing quality content!
The recent improvements as it relates to content creation are only the beginning of more proven content marketing solutions from UAW … we can’t say too much right now but we can guarantee you that many more enhancements are just around the corner
What about Social Media, how can UAW help us with it or are you just Content focused?
We clearly understand the importance of Social Media, it is one of many services that separates us from others. Over the past 2 years our testing is conclusive that Social Signals matter as it relates to ranking in search… then the question remains – how can you get relevant social signals without spending all day trying to like, view, share, friend beg, borrow and steal…?
UAW answered this with the introduction of the Social Exchange Wizard – an exclusive platform for UAW Members to exchange relevant targeted social signals between real profiles in niche categories. You might have noticed that we have updated your control panel with a clear path to use the social exchange:
BTW – The social exchange is included with every UAW membership at no additional charge
Does social really matter?
Social Media is exploding and everyone is trying to play, we all know now that social signals play a role in how our properties rank in search. Platforms such as Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, Stubleupon all provide search engines with signals that matter to them.
If you read back to our post on Real Names or Pen Names, you have already made the decision to capitalize on the changes that already have and are forthcoming as it relates to ranking criteria. Let me dig a little deeper into why your Author Names are relevant and how they can be used to support your Content Marketing and Guest Blogging efforts!
Schema.org
Through the technical introduction of Schema.org, (Rel=”author” and Rel=”publisher”) Search Engines are moving certain trust factors towards the author & publishers of content. It is not an easy process to integrate into your blog however; it does show the clear importance of trust in authors and publishers in the eyes of Google, Bing and Yahoo!.
Trusted Users
Ranking criteria will not apply to just the site but the author will begin to play a role in the ranking algorithms. Trust has always been an ongoing discussion surrounding sites however as we know, you need a well balanced, somewhat chaotic link profile because after all, human nature and behaviors are chaotic not uniformed.
Link Graph
Backlinks continue to play a significant role (and the importance is not going away) in how well a website gets ranked however; there is tremendous amount of effort by Search Engines to find ways of better validating these links. One validation method is to check across multiple social platforms, do they have engagement? These signals are meant to help reduce “spammy links tactics” that ultimately diminish the quality of the user experience.
Let’s dig a bit deeper into what we call Universal Search or as some call it, “The New SEO”
From the diagram below you can see that a balance is needed in order for you to find the sweet spot as it relates to getting your web properties ranked within search results:
- UAW Balance = the spot by which you want to try to achieve through all your combined SEO endeavors
Now that you have a better understanding Universal Search Balance, similar principals can be applied to people, in other words, your authors persona:
Social Media is important to create engagement, it is also an important factor for Search but unfortunately, social media on its own is not the golden egg some people are claiming it to be … all test are conclusive when social is used in combination with content marketing = excellent results. This is especially true when you combine social signals from your authors & web properties within your backlinking strategies.
Enhancements recently made to your UAW – Author Management System:
Author Bio
Website (money site/other)
Social Networks
Image Upload
Professional Social Identities
Ok got it, but really, why are author persona’s important to me?
Imagine that you have a team of authors creating content for you, writing original posts for your website, content marketing articles across multiple niche blogs and directories and then you add social to their persona = authors now have real personas, social engagement across multiple social networks thereby supporting their expertise and niche relevancy = very awesome!
Having author persona’s come to life is important, yes it may seem like a TON of work however, as Team UAW continue to make enhancements it will become even easier for you to self manage your author persona’s, perhaps even UAW has something in the works to help do this for you
BTW – we have recently included a really cool professional upgrade for UAW Members main author persona its a PR5 profile with dofollow links for all of your authors social networks. If you haven’t checked out your author management system you might want to
In Closing:
Team UAW continues to test, adapt, enhance & make improvements thereby releasing functions and features that continually increases the over all effectiveness of UAW. Hello Jason,
Do we have any authors writing review articles? I have 2 review sites, that could use review articles, especially in the weight-loss, health, diet, ebook, kindle book, exercise, abs, body detoxification, fat loss and appliance niches? Loving all the updates, keep up the good work.
Best Regards,
Kieth.

Hi Keith, great question

Thank you for this detailed overview. I appreciate UAW’s proactive attention to overall SEO. The focus on profile brings up a dilemma in my account. I tend to create a lot of pen names to add to the article’s uniqueness. It sounds like, going forward, just a few pen names should be developed to match a specific topic. Thoughts on making this change?
Hi Robert,
Not a dilemma, this is a method that many use and it still works very well within the whole of their strategy. It also depends on where your links are pointing to from within your content, such as web2.0′s, profiles, tierII sites etc. thereby creating pyramids, link wheels, passing juice between various properties. High volume content distribution requires diversity thereby increasing overall uniqueness.
Imagine if each of your existing (and new) authors also had a profile on a reputable social network, a niche network, etc… you could build up your profiles (we can help) to further support uniqueness, diversity, building social signals and trust.
Happy to discuss with you in more detail, just open a ticket with Customer Care and one of our Team will continue this discussion!

Jason – excellent post. Thanks for clarifying some of the recent confusion. I am looking forward to trying your new Social Exchange Wizard.
Thanks Basil, Looking forward to your feedback!
Interesting updates, I used to use many author names just picked randomly using a script, although I can see the future being me using very few, like maybe 3 author profiles and having them linked in via DandyID and using Social exchange to build up the social platform profiles for these authors. Looking good UAW – keep it up!
I was using a lot of different pseudonyms myself, but I agree that using just a handful of author profiles and building up their reputation is a better approach. The new UAW author profiles will definitely make this a lot easier!
Is there the capability to automatically submit to EzineArticles etc?
